Showcase your innovations and research at the 2024 WiSys SPARK Symposium

Universities of Wisconsin students can present their research and innovative projects this summer at the WiSys SPARK Symposium. The symposium is free for students and will be held on the UW-Superior campus from July 24-26.

The WiSys SPARK Symposium is an annual celebration of the best and brightest faculty, staff, students, and alumni from the Universities of Wisconsin.

The Student Poster and Innovation Showcase is an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to share their innovative research or projects to a statewide audience for a chance to win cash prizes. Students may present a research poster detailing their work or showcase their innovative project/idea via a prototype, application storyboard, computer, or other interactive formats.

Students from all academic disciplines, from the arts & humanities to science, are encouraged to apply to the showcase. Cash prizes up to $750 will be awarded for the best presentations and innovations.

This is an opportunity for students to:

  • Gain statewide exposure for their work
  • Practice presentation skills in a supportive environment
  • Experience a professional conference in-state and free of charge
  • Win cash prizes

At last year’s event, UW-Eau Claire’s Josh Baker won first place for his poster presentation titled “Microcontroller Control System for a Solar Water Heater.” Read more about Baker’s presentation and other participants from last year here. UW-Platteville’s Tyler Hendee won first place for his innovative project titled “Microscale Geometric Filtration.” Learn more about his innovation here.

Any undergraduate or graduate student from the Universities of Wisconsin can apply to present. Attendance is free for students and dormitory housing is included, but space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. More information about poster and innovation showcase submissions and preparation can be found here.

Abstracts can be submitted at the time of registration. Registration for the WiSys SPARK Symposium closes on Friday, June 28.
