WiSys adds Deborah Lundin to support UW regional schools’ research

UW Oshkosh, UW-Parkside and UW-Platteville faculty and academic staff have a new resource for their research in Deborah Lundin.

As WiSys’ new Pre-Award Manager for Sponsored Programs, Lundin will work with each institution’s office of sponsored programs to support their faculty and academic staff in identifying appropriate sources of funding, assisting in applying for those funds, and teaching best practices in grant seeking.

“Deborah brings deep expertise in research administration and will be a great partner for the researchers and administrators of the universities that she will be serving,” said WiSys President Arjun Sanga.

Previously, Lundin served in research administrative roles at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C. and, most recently, at the Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

She is a certified research administrator and holds a doctorate in education and a master’s degree in history from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.

Lundin will travel to UW Oshkosh, UW-Parkside and UW-Platteville to conduct workshops and meet with individuals in coordination with each institution’s sponsored programs office.

The hiring increases WiSys' commitment to its Pre-Award Program (PreP) that was started in 2018. The program aims to educate and coach faculty grant seekers, strengthen campus research culture and develop research administrator capacities.

“We’re excited to have Deborah on board and to continue to grow the PreP Program to serve our mission of inspiring Wisconsin innovation,” said Sanga.

WiSys is a nonprofit organization that works with faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the UW System to facilitate cutting-edge research programs, develop and commercialize discoveries, and foster a spirit of innovative and entrepreneurial thinking across the state.
