Save the Date to Attend the Innovation On-Ramp Pitch Competitions

We invite campus and community members to join us in a celebration of student talent and innovative spirit on Universities of Wisconsin campuses. Save the date to attend the WiSys Innovation On-Ramp Pitch Competitions, which will occur throughout November and December on the UW-Platteville and UW-Green Bay campuses.

WiSys Innovation On-Ramp is a multi-campus learning experience with five weeks of interactive online learning modules culminating in the student pitch and showcase events listed above. Over 140 students across the four campuses participated in the program, and some of them will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas at the events listed below and have the chance to win cash prizes.

UW-Platteville:
WiSys Prototype Hackathon Pitch Event: Tuesday, November 28, 5:30-7:30 PM
Nohr Gallery, Ullsvik Hall

UW-Green Bay:
WiSys Innovation On-Ramp Pitch Event: Wednesday, December 6, 4:00-6:00 PM
Christie Theatre

The Innovation On-Ramp experience trains students to think innovatively and solve problems through modules and workshops focused on identifying problems worth solving, evaluating innovative solutions, identifying target markets, and practicing how to communicate their ideas. Both undergraduate and graduate students from all academic disciplines were encouraged to enroll and build innovative thinking skills. Participants also had the opportunity to engage with campus and community mentors who offered insight and feedback on their ideas and project goals. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a “WiSys Innovative Thinking” badge – a microcredential that can be added to boost their resumes.

Previous Pitch Event project winners include an innovative heated knee sleeve that can help prevent injuries in athletes and a cup that can help people with hand tremors, the latter of which was awarded a patent in January 2022.
