WiSys hires Margot DeBaker to support UW institutions in Western Wisconsin

MADISON—WiSys has hired Margot DeBaker to serve UW-Eau Claire, UW-River Falls, UW-Stout and UW-Superior as a Regional Intellectual Property and Licensing Associate.

DeBaker will connect university faculty, staff and students to WiSys programs and services for researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs. She will be on each of the campuses regularly for one-on-one meetings, presentations and events, among other activities.

“Margot is an excellent addition to our Regional Associate Program,” said WiSys President Arjun Sanga. “Regional Associates are WiSys’ ‘boots on the ground’ who bring valuable expertise to our campuses as they build long term relationships to support research and innovation. As an expert in neuroscience with technology transfer experience, Margot brings a unique skillset to our UW institutions to support the development of new technologies and companies.”

Before joining WiSys, Margot earned a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences from Marquette University, and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities.

While earning her Ph.D., DeBaker studied the treatment of drug addiction and prevention of drug-related problems.
