UW-Parkside’s Ariana Hernandez wins WiSys Quick Pitch by explaining research into insulin affordability for people with diabetes

SOMERS—Junior molecular biology and bioinformatics major Ariana Hernandez took first place in the WiSys Quick Pitch @ Home competition for UW-Parkside students in May.

The student “pitch” competition inspires UW System students to consider the impact of their research and effectively communicate it to the public. This year’s event took place virtually because of the coronavirus crisis.

Hernandez’s presentation focused on insulin affordability for people living with Type 1 diabetes.

Hernandez, who won a $300 prize, earned a spot in the WiSys Quick Pitch State Final on June 17.
