UW-Eau Claire’s Katelyn Reckin wins WiSys Quick Pitch by explaining research into usage of food benefits at local farmers’ market

EAU CLAIRE—Junior economics major Katelyn Reckin took first place in the WiSys Quick Pitch @ Home competition for UW-Eau Claire students in May.

The student “pitch” competition inspires UW System students to consider the impact of their research and effectively communicate it to the public. This year’s event took place virtually because of the coronavirus crisis.

Reckin’s presentation focused on research involving a program to expand usage of government food assistance benefits at the Eau Claire Farmers’ Market.

Reckin, who won a $300 prize, is now eligible to participate in the WiSys Quick Pitch State Final this summer.
