Newly elected Council on Undergraduate Research Treasurer to begin term in July

Karen Havholm, the newly elected treasurer of Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) is to begin her three-year term as treasurer July 1st. Her career began at College of Wooster where she herself participated in undergraduate, faculty-mentored research and received her bachelor's degree in geology. After receiving her bachelor's degree, Havholm proceeded to teach K-12 in Terhan, Iran and Austin, Texas. Following her time teaching primary and secondary school, she went on to receive her masters and began teaching at universities throughout the U.S. where she has continued to support undergraduate research. Currently, Havholm is the assistant vice chancellor for research and sponsored programs and director of the Center of Excellence for Faculty and Undergraduate Student Research Collaboration at University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. Havholm expressed her gratitude in being trusted with the position of treasurer and the Executive Council looks forward expertise in fiscal administration, program management, and grant-based research programs that Havholm will bring to the board.
