It was recently announced that the UW-Madison Sea Grant Institute will be donating $2.8 million to research this coming year. Almost 100 members of UW System students, staff, and faculty will be participating in the research and will be studying everything under the sun that could have ties to the effects of the Great Lakes. WiSys affiliated campuses involved in the project include: UW-Green Bay, UW Oshkosh, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Superior and UW-Whitewater. The research is intended to uncover both environmental and economic impacts of the Great Lakes on the Wisconsin area, and the richly diverse scientific leadership from around the state provides for a promising group to pioneer new research on the worlds largest freshwater system.
