The Foxconn Technology Group recently announced that they will be partnering with higher education institutions across Wisconsin in search of new ideas for the development of smart, interconnected cities and throughout the state. Over the next three years, Foxconn has pledged to invest $1 million into the initiative with the hopes of extracting the innovative talents of university students. The “Smart City, Smart Future” initiative, to be officially launched in the fall, will include competitions that result in financial, technical, and network support for competitors. The goal of the competition is to foster new technology that can bolster "the quality of life and working environments, inspire attractive streetscapes, transportation networks and living spaces, and promote sustainable economic and demographic growth."
