In place of WiSys’ popular summer in-person symposium—which honors research, innovation and entrepreneurship in the UW System—WiSys will present a series of virtual events for students, faculty and staff this summer. You don’t have to be in-person to spark ideas and collaborations.
Grant Writing for Students
Thursday, Aug. 5 | 3–4:30 p.m. Students interested in adding the grant writing skill to their resume will learn the basics from WiSys grant writing experts in this starter session which may be especially useful for students on track to attend graduate school. Graduate students may find that they need grants to complete their work or may work with faculty who would benefit from a knowledgeable student. >> MORE
Tuesday, Aug. 10 | 3-4:30 p.m. Researchers, educators and industry leaders interested in advancing effective approaches for preparing the STEM workforce will connect in this outcomes-driven event, meant to seed inter-disciplinary, cross-campus and university-industry collaborations. >> MORE
Wednesday, Aug. 11 | 3–5 p.m. UW System students share interesting and varied research projects and innovations with the academic community and public, developing their presentation skills and competing for cash prizes and recognition. This showcase focuses on student projects that were conducted during the summer. >> MORE
Thursday, Aug. 12 | 3–4:30 p.m. Faculty interested in building up their grant seeking capacity will engage with a panel of faculty colleagues who found success with their grant getting efforts. These speakers will reflect on getting their start in grant seeking, persevering toward an award, operationalizing a grant on campus and involving students on grant-funded projects, among other valuable insights. >> MORE
