WiSys announces Arjun Sanga as President and Trustee of foundation

The WiSys Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the promotion of Arjun Sanga to President of WiSys. As part of the promotion, the Board voted to make Sanga a full voting member of the Board.

This promotion reflects the deep respect that the Board has for Sanga’s leadership, management skills and accomplishments. During his tenure, Sanga has built an excellent team, energized WiSys through new programs, and has built strong connections with UW System institutions, WARF and many other organizations in the state. Under his leadership, WiSys has launched new programs like the WiSys Regional Associates and WiSys Ambassadors.

Additionally, new events like the WiSys Quick Pitch, Prototype Hackathon, and Innovation in Aging that started at UW-Eau Claire, UW-Platteville and UW-Green Bay respectively, are gaining momentum and resulted in more UW students engaged in innovation. Invention disclosures to WiSys from UW member institutions have more than doubled to an average of 60 per year during this time. His team’s efforts have helped WiSys have a growing system-wide impact.

“Arjun Sanga has energized the WiSys organization and has built a team and organization that is advancing research and innovation throughout the UW comprehensive universities,” said David Ward, Chair of the WiSys Board of Trustees.

Sanga began as the executive director of WiSys in January 2014 and has since overseen a shift in the foundation’s mission, vision and values culminating in the release of the 2017 Strategic Plan.

With a strong background in technology transfer, business startups and intellectual property management, Sanga intends to use his new role as president to strengthen partnerships that help university technologies flourish, collaborating with WARF, UW System leadership and external stakeholders across the state.

“Arjun is an exemplary leader and WARF is delighted that he has fortified the infrastructure for advancing technology commercialization across our UW System campuses,” said Erik Iverson, Managing Director of WARF. “Arjun and WiSys are trusted partners to WARF in our work as well as valued assets to the State. We applaud this promotion.”
