UW-Stout faculty newcomer helps send students to business tournament in Madison

New UW-Stout faculty member Mary Spaeth is already doing big things at the school. Formerly of Texas State University at San Marcos/Austin, Spaeth teaches courses in business and business management. Upon starting her new position in January, Spaeth hit the ground running, proving to be instrumental in the collaborative effort to bring the nationally-recognized experiential entrepreneurial program "Three Day Startup" to UW-Stout.

A total of 55 students applied for the program and among them 40 were chosen to take part. The participants had to develop an idea, test their idea with potential users, and then present them with short pitches judged by faculty. The winning idea of the event, Maxtruder, automatically qualified for the upcoming Wisconsin Big Idea Tournament in Madison, where it will compete for a qualification for the International Business Model Competition in California in May.
