UW-Stevens Point energy educator presented with award

A UW-Stevens Point energy educator has been recognized as an Educator of the Year by Seventhwave. Sara Windjue, senior outreach specialist with the Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education, part of the College of Natural Resources at UWSP, was awarded the honor for her work with the Wisconsin K-12 Energy Education Program.

During her 12 years working with KEEP, Windjue has helped teach sustainable practices to children and has worked to increase energy literacy around the state. She has helped to erect a framework for teaching renewable energy concepts to both students and teachers.

"I am honored to be recognized for doing what I love," Windjue said. "Students who graduate high school as sustainability literate individuals will be more aware, as consumers, of their impact on our environment, the economy, and our global society."
