This fall at the 2017 Earth Charter Community Summit, the Sustainability Institute for Regional Transformations (SIRT) at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh was officially introduced. SIRT's objective is to encourage the state to build ecologically sound communities that ultimately lead to healthier and happier societies.

The SIRT will use research and teaching as their focal point and eventually branch out to all dimensions of sustainability. Chemistry Professor, Kevin Crawford, is enthusiastic and eager to help lead the universities latest sustainability efforts and looks forward to extend those efforts beyond the confines of the university.
