At UW-Green Bay's second annual Student Business Idea Contest, students from every major under the sun presented a 90 second pitch of their innovative ideas for a panel of judges. Prizes included cash, scholarships to a summer entrepreneurship travel course in Portugal, and the chance to keep pitching this spring for more cash and in-kind services.

First place was rewarded to Mathematics student and WiSys Ambassador Sam Hunt for his PrecisionLAG golf training tool. Furthermore, Hunt will be representing UW-Green Bay at "The Pitch" this coming April in hopes of qualifying for yet another contest, the Wisconsin Big Idea Tournament. Second place went to Business Administration and Accounting student Hannah Hastings for her Pet’s Best Friend — a device that connects to a pet collar and suggests how long a specific pet should be outside given current weather, temperature, and conditions. Hastings will also be representing UW-Green Bay at "The Pitch" along side Hunt. Finally, third place was earned by Business Administration student Katherine Mikhail for Piggy Bank — an app that connects to a Bluetooth piggy bank, teaching kids how to budget their allowance and earned money for treats such as toys or games. Mikhail was also member of the winning “Innovation in Aging” competition that took place in February.

Overall, the second annual Student Business Idea Contest was quite the success and left competitors, judges, and viewers with a sense of promise for the future of innovation.
