Research on ground squirrel obesity shows promise for human obesity treatment

With the help of a research grant from the UW Oshkosh Office of Student Research and Creative Activity, Michelle Sonsalla, a graduate student at UW Oshkosh, recently began working on a study that has the potential to lead to obesity treatment in humans. Sonsalla is currently working with Assistant Professor Courtney Kurtz to explore methods of treatment on ground squirrels.

Due to the fact that the ground squirrels are mammals, Sonsalla has high hopes that the treatments will be easily applicable to humans in the near future.
