National $10,000 prize awarded to UW-Stevens Point sustainability programs

When asked to form a proposal concerning the mitigation of climate change through the expansion of compost usage, the Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable Technology and Soil and Waste Resources Discipline from UW-Stevens Point responded by extracting research they had participated in regarding paper and agricultural industries in Wisconsin.

The programs were later recognized on a national level for their studies in sustainability initiatives and received a $10,000 Honorable Mention Award in the 2017 Rathmann Challenge. The Rathmann Challege supports the acceleration of sustainable solutions research and the students involved were fortunate to gain profound experience in academic research and professional development.
