Similarly to many famous musical artists around the world, lesser-known West African artists are utilizing music as a platform for political protest. This year, students from UW-Eau Claire had the chance to interview many of those West African artists in Senegal and conduct research regarding their non-violent forms of protest. The immersion program allowed for the Wisconsin students to gain a more well rounded understanding of political happenings around the world, ultimately improving their comprehensive research abilities as well as their political awareness.
