Wisconsin Science & Technology Symposium 2009

Research and technology development are vital to the economic growth of Wisconsin. To encourage interdisciplinary research in the state, WiSys Technology Foundation and UW-La Crosse jointly organized the Second Annual Wisconsin Science & Technology Symposium to bring together the most innovative researchers from the UW comprehensive campuses and other research organizations in Wisconsin.

Along with over 30 research presentations by many of Wisconsin's most prolific scientific researchers, WSTS 2009 was highlighted by public addresses from Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle, UW System President Kevin Reilly, UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow, Marshfield Clinic Director of Applied Sciences Bob Carlson, and Aurora Bay Care CFO Paul Summerside.

The main goals of WSTS remain bringing together the best scientific minds of the state, and showcasing technology development leading to economic growth and advancement of scholarship. WSTS also offers an excellent opportunity to network and establish productive inter-disciplinary collaborations. WSTS '09 was held on July 23-24, and over the two days covered nanotechnology, sustainable energy and biomass utilization, clinical and medical sciences, pharmaceutical development, new polymers and composites, and many other exciting areas of research.
