As the designated patent management organization for the UW System, WiSys provides, free of charge, patenting and licensing services for inventions, copyrights and other intellectual property that has the potential to be commercially developed. WiSys encourages all UW System faculty, staff and students to disclose their inventions for evaluation of commercial potential.
Please note that under UW System policy and certain federal statutes, all inventions made by UW System faculty, staff and students must be disclosed to WiSys regardless of the monies (federal, private, etc.) that funded the research leading to the invention.
