WSTS 2014

Jul 21 to Jul 22 , 2014  |  WiSys Hosted, Symposium  |  UW-Eau Claire

The seventh annual Wisconsin Science & Technology Symposium was held on July 21-22, 2014 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the Davies Center. WSTS 2014 celebrated some of the groundbreaking research occurring throughout the state, and offered attendees the opportunity to connect with some of the brightest minds in Wisconsin.

We were delighted to hear from our keynote speaker, Zach Halmstad. Mr. Halmstad is co-founder and co-CEO at JAMF Software, founded in 2002. He told an exciting story of his time as an Eau Claire native and former music major at UW-Eau Claire, and highlighted the importance of his experiences in the development of his company. Mr. Halmstad's continued commitment to the city of Eau Claire shows with a current office housing 150 of JAMF Software's 300 employees, and ongoing construction on a new office space in the downtown area.

In addition to Mr. Halmstad, we heard remarks from Ray Cross, President of the University of Wisconsin System, James C. Schmidt, Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and closing remarks from Patricia A. Kleine, Provost and Vice Chancellor for UW-Eau Claire.

We hope that WSTS 2014 gave attendees a new perspective on UW System research at the comprehensive campuses, while also facilitating partnerships and connections across campuses and industries.
